CGF Forum set  for Thursday, February 13
Managing Public Lands:  Competing Priorities for Public Open Space

 The public is invited to an environmental forum  at which a panel will discuss the stewardship of public lands and the  competing priorities for our open space. What are the common uses and  management practices? What are the sources of contention, and how can  we resolve these conflicts?

The forum, entitled Managing Public Lands:  Competing Priorities for Public Open Space is hosted by
Committee  for Green Foothills , and cosponsored by Acterra,  the Bay Area Ridge  Trail Council, Greenbelt  Alliance, the League  of Women Voters of Los Altos / Mountain View, Santa  Clara Valley Audubon Society, and   Sierra Club Loma Prieta Chapter.

Moderator Jane Turnbull, Co-President, League  of Women Voters of Los Altos/Mountain View Area;
Howard Levitt, National Park Service/GGNRA;
Craig Britton, Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District;
Keith Demetrak, California State Parks;
Holly Van Houghten, Bay Area Ridge Trail;
Rod Brown, mountain biker and hiker;
Jeri Flinn, representing dog owners;
Rich Allen , representing the equestrian community; and
Dr. Bill Freedman, representing hikers and walkers.

The forum will be held on Thursday,  February 13, 2003 from 7-9 pm in the Auditorium of the Palo  Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell, Palo Alto.

 The event is free and open to the public. No reservations  are required. Snacks will be provided.

This forum is the third in a series of environmental  forums organized by Committee for Green Foothills and made possible in  part to support from the Community  Foundation Silicon Valley (CFSV).
